Haiti
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Approximately 70% of Haitians are unemployed and the adult illiteracy rate is near 50%. One half of Haitians are undernourished and 45% do not have sustainable access to good water. The official religion in Haiti is Roman Catholic. However, voodoo may be considered to be the national religion as the majority of Haitians believe and practice some aspects of voodoo. There are many opportunities in Haiti to share the gospel and to show the love of Christ through outreach and humanitarian efforts.
