For several years, the ACWR Caribbean committee was approached by several qualified members desiring to pursue longer-term opportunities in Jamaica. The Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf (CCCD) continued to express a desire for Apostolic brethren to be sent to work with them as they reach out for the deaf in Jamaica. The committee became comfortable with the purpose, goals and objectives of the CCCD organization. With counsel from the Mission committee a written proposal was drafted. In May 2005, several members of the Caribbean committee spent one week in Jamaica evaluating current projects and the need for our outreach to the CCCD. Approval was received from the Mission committee and the ACWR and the first brethren arrived in Jamaica during 2007.
